I sold one of my recent burrowing owl paintings and wanted to keep up inventory on them. The burrowing owls are in trouble, losing habitat in Southeast Florida, and part of the reason for painting them is to bring awareness to these owls. I’ll admit, I never heard of burrowing owls until I joined the South Florida Audubon Society (SFAS) to participate in their Sea Turtle Conservation program. After sending SFAS an invitation to an art show I was exhibiting in that included a painting of my sea turtles, I was asked to consider painting the burrowing owls! There is no better way (for me) to become really acquainted with animals, or people, than to paint them. I love that intimate experience.
Merchandise for sale is available on the Give a HOOT for Burrowing Owls Cafepress website. Purchases help benefit SFAS’s Project Perch.
