Update: I won Honorable Mention for my Sea Turtle painting in the Nature Competition, Painting Category at Light Space Time Online Gallery. For the month of August 2015, winning pieces will be on display and then moved to their archive section online. Wonderful works of art. 660 submissions and I’d estimate about 100 awards given.
Turtle nesting season is underway and living is South Florida, a block from the beach, it is very evident. As turtles lay their eggs, nests will begin to hatch in roughly 45 days. This means that very soon I will be out on the beach at night watching assigned nests as part of the turtle conservation effort with South Florida Audubon Society. It is one of my favorite things to do. The peace and quiet of nighttime on the beach. Spending this time with my husband. The excitement when there is a hatch out. Knowing that these creatures have a greater chance of survival for my being there. Very, very nice.
The next few posts will include my series of turtle paintings. Purchase information is directly under the photo.
