Day 1 January 2017 30 in 30 Challenge
Happy New Year!
This first painting was painted to meet a juried show deadline in December, and so is a ‘cheat’ for the challenge, but nevertheless, I’m using it to kick off the challenge. The task was ‘dappled light and velvet hues ‘. I chose what I thought to be velvet hues and painted the subject accordingly. I am please to say I was juried into the show at The Bonnet House Museum & Gardens, January 12 – March 5.
Going forward, it seems that the bulk of my paintings get done during these challenges. As a relative newbie to the business of art, I am discovering the juggling of tasks needed to build a viable business. And since I live in an area of seasonal visitors, I have to consider those months for concentrated sales. Consequently, between the last challenge in September and now this new one, I have spent my time at sales venues, selecting exhibits and outdoor shows for the rest of the season (ends roughly in April), and planning paintings needed for the select audiences at the show…some of which I will be painting during this challenge.
The year is off to a quick start for me and I will admit to some anxiety.
