In keeping with my recent theme(s), this 6×6″ painting in black and white…with a dash of color, this black swan captivated me. I’m attracted to these preening poses as well. It brings the subject closer in, and I can fit them on paper much better. Many birds have very long beaks and this pose helps eliminate too much white space.
My last black swan was done a couple of years ago. I would like to do that one again in my new format.
I have been mounting these 6×6″ paintings on blocks. Have not gotten feedback on the format yet, but I like the 6×6 block series. Not only will the size suit folks who have no more wall space, but they also encourage owning a collection. The blocks stand nicely on furniture or a shelf, as well as hang on the wall.
