Definitely an unusual looking eagle and of course I had to paint him. A few weeks ago, I attended a workshop taught by Jean Haines. I have been following her for several, or more, years, and finally took the workshop. Secretly, I really wanted to take her workshop in England, but opted for Florida!
One of the requirements of this painting was no preliminary sketch. I chose the photo of this bird because of it’s stunning eye, which began the painting. The rest of the painting falls around that eye. I like painting without sketching, but usually am too chicken to do a final piece that way. I hope to do more and with practice will feel more confident painting that way.
