Day 13 30 in 30 painting challenge. So I thought I was done with this painting and ready to post it. But, what one sees in a photo taken of the painting, can give more clarity to what needs to be fixed to finish the painting. I always take a snapshot of the painting as I progress. It provides a surprise look at it, revealing things one could not see anymore in the live painting. Walking out of the room and coming back as if you haven’t seen the painting before, can give the same affect.
Bird feathers are very exciting to me. I debated painting this pose because the owl was looking ‘away’. However, I think that is interesting in itself because we don’t see as much of that. So, between the beauty of the feathers and the less familiar pose, I thoroughly enjoyed painting this barn owl.
