In January 2014, I will be participating in the 30 paintings in 30 days challenge. For me, the challenge is a measure of my commitment to paint more often, even in a small format. Painting quickly, possibly without a preliminary drawing. Possibly painting a subject over and over to discover variations each time I paint. Putting each painting up for sale instead of closeting them away in a notebook, unable to sell originals. And pushing myself through the fear.
All this is a big challenge for me, but as employment has been making noises for me to broaden my horizons in more ways than one, the timing is right for me to stick out my neck. Rest assured the universe will probably have a say in all this one way or another, but at least this is what I am proclaiming for the near future.
Please bare with me as this website will change faces from time to time. Rather than making it a priority to get things perfect, I am also trying to learn not to bite off more than I can chew. Given that I build websites for a living, letting a website be less than it should be is not easy. But for this website, new paintings should be what it is all about.
And finally, I will be posting paintings from my archive prior to January. Many will be linked to products such as calendars, coaster tiles and other gift items, as well as prints. As I said above, most of my paintings are in a notebook and therefore not available as originals. I happen to love the items that display my paintings on it, yet feel at times I should apologize for that. Let it be known here, I LOVE prints and gifts. This also makes it more affordable for so many more people.
Yep, I may have missed the Christmas buying season, but it is a start for next year…
